We have some exciting news to share with you from VIPcare. We would like you to meet our new health care team member, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Laura Costa. Laura has recently joined our team at the Spanish Plaines clinic.
Laura has over 8 years of experience as a registered nurse and has worked in several specialties, including orthopedics, medical/surgical, pediatrics, and ER. She’s also an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Nurse Practitioners, Emergency Nurse Association, and Florida Nurse Practitioners.
Who is Laura Costa, APRN?
Laura is a wife and mother of five who recognized at an early age that she had a passion and interest in helping people. However, that passion didn’t lead her into the field of medicine until much later in life. It wasn’t until four of her five children were grown and starting their own adult lives that Laura finally decided to embark on her dream of becoming a nurse.
With encouragement from her family and friends, Laura earned her master’s in nursing as a family nurse practitioner. Over time, she gained experience working in several different settings.
“I’ve enjoyed every step of my career and have found those steps came with appreciation from those I serve,” she said.
While serving her patients, Laura had the opportunity to share her knowledge and assist in teaching new and seasoned nurses. This led to her becoming an instructor at FORTIS College, where she could help guide future nurses along their medical paths.
“As I enjoy working with my patients, I have also enjoyed teaching future registered nurses,” Laura said. “I enjoy watching my students succeed and begin their own journey in serving their communities.”
Laura is excited to be joining the VIPcare family. She believes in providing quality care that is centered around the patient and their specific needs.
“I am compassionate to individual concerns and encourage patients to ask questions, know their medical needs, and understand their individual treatment plans,” she said. “VIPcare is another step in my career journey. Being part of a team is always rewarding; having the opportunity to add patients to that team is even better!”
