Dr. Espinoza is getting ready to celebrate his one-year anniversary with VIPcare, and we couldn’t be more excited for him. So, in honor of his anniversary, get to know Dr. Anthony Espinoza.
Who is Dr. Anthony Espinoza?
Dr. Espinoza grew up in South Florida on the shores of Lake Okeechobee in a small town called Clewiston. There were only 100 kids in his graduating class, creating a tight-knit community.
He was a high achiever and part of all the honor classes as a youth. However, as he got older, he discovered it was more fun being popular and hanging out with his friends. Upon graduation, he attended community college in Gainesville. It was there that he met his wife and got steered back on track to being that high achiever. “She helped me see that I could aspire to be someone successful,” Dr. Espinoza said.
Along with his wife, Dr. Espinoza’s job at a cataract surgery clinic in Gainesville helped push him to make the decision to go back to school and pursue medicine. He received his master’s in biomedical science and earned his medical degree at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine.
At the time, he and his wife were getting ready to start a family and decided Fort Lauderdale was a little too busy for them. So, they moved back to the Gainesville area and settled in Ocala to complete his residency at Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident.
The Road to VIPcare
After completing his residency training, Dr. Espinoza stayed on at Ocala Regional as a core faculty member for two years. However, he soon came to miss having his own patients.
“I missed that,” he said. “Getting to know my patients and being part of their lives and taking care of them.”
VIPcare became the perfect home for Dr. Espinoza. It has allowed him to be the provider he desires to be. One that listens and builds a relationship with his patients.
“I sit down and take time to actually get to know somebody,” he said. “The most important thing is to build that rapport and make sure that every patient is heard.”
