They say time flies when you’re having fun. We’d definitely have to agree as we can’t believe it is coming up on Dr. Margaret Yee’s one-year anniversary with VIPcare next month. Dr. Yee is our primary care physician in Davenport. She has been such an asset to our team, and we feel so fortunate to have her as one of our providers.
She is board certified with both the Canadian College of Family Physicians of Canada as well as the American Board of Family Medicine and has been in private practice for over 22 years.
Who is Dr. Margaret Yee?
Dr. Yee was born in Trinidad, West Indies, and grew up in Canada. Becoming a doctor, she said, was a definitive calling from God.
“There isn’t a day that goes by that I do not know His presence in every patient interaction,” she said. “He guides my decisions and interactions. The elderly are a pretty fragile population, many misguided. My scope is to simplify their life and aim for better outcomes. At the same time, it is all God’s ministry, and we strive to use that as our moral compass.”
Dr. Yee attended the University of South Florida in Tampa for her undergraduate studies before returning to Canada for medical school. There she earned her medical degree from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada, and completed her internship training at Toronto East General Hospital, also in Ontario.
Dr. Yee began in private practice with a focus on the senior population. “It took some nurturing,” she said, “but as I have grown up with my patients, some I have known when I first started 22 years ago, it has given me insight, and I find it rewarding to aim for Better Health with this population.”
As with many people from up north, Florida’s warm sunshine brought Dr. Yee and her family down south.
Dr. Yee is the mother of four – three sons and one daughter. When she isn’t practicing medicine, she enjoys her time nurturing her children. “All of those years of nurturing and praying for them has been a joy beyond belief,” she said. “God’s gifts to me, for sure.”
She strives for a balanced life which she jokingly says she is still in training for.
Dr. Yee is excited to be joining the VIPcare family and said it is definitely a win-win. “As I got to know the model of helping patients achieve Better Health, it resonated big time for me,” she said. “I now have the support staff with similar goals and mindset.”
