Dr. Derick Velazquez is a board-certified physician specializing in family medicine. Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Velazquez attended the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, earning his bachelor’s degree in biology. He then completed two years of medical school at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico before transferring to the University of Health Sciences Antigua, where he earned his medical degree. He also attended Walden University, earning a master’s in healthcare administration.
Dr. Velazquez is an active member of the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society. As a physician, he believes in providing care that shifts the focus from treating illness to preventing it. “I believe we can achieve this through patient education in preventive medical care and by helping them understand that they don’t have to wait to be sick to seek medical care, but rather seeking medical care in order to maintain a healthy and high-quality life,” he said.
In his free time, Dr. Velazquez enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys listening to music and watching movies.
