Dr. Samuel Alfano is a board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine. He attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, to study engineering and computer science before earning his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.Medicine always seemed to be a part of his life, even after deciding to pursue a career in engineering and computer science. When Dr. Alfano was in high school, he had the opportunity to take a course and get trained as an EMT. This was encouraged and even arranged for him by his high school.This training later helped to land him a job as an ambulance driver while studying in college.“It was a perfect fit,” he said. “I was able to earn some extra money as well as utilize my training in basic life support. I owe my decision to become a doctor to one of the ER physicians who recognized that I had some talents and helped me to apply to medical school, and became a mentor during the early phase of my education.”Dr. Alfano enjoys the one-on-one interaction with his patients and getting to hear their stories. In addition, he takes great joy in educating and teaching them how to improve their health and live a better, longer life.In his free time, Dr. Alfano enjoys reading, cooking his mother’s old Italian recipes, golfing, and gardening.
