About Me
Dr. Amanda Bighorse is a board-certified family medicine physician with over 11 years of experience providing patient-centered care. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northeastern State University and her medical degree from the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at OSU-COM in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Her paternal grandparents and Native heritage were a major influence in her journey to medicine, as was a personal experience as a teenager when her father was diagnosed with leukemia. The care her father received inspired Dr. Bighorse to pursue a career where she could make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families. Dr. Bighorse finds it a privilege to develop long-term relationships with her patients, sharing in both the challenging and joyous moments of their healthcare journey. She loves getting to know her patients as individuals—their hobbies, families, and life experiences. She especially values the stories and wisdom her senior patients share, finding common ground that strengthens trust and guides her approach to care. By listening closely and understanding each patient’s unique background, Dr. Bighorse is able to provide personalized, whole-person care and foster a partnership where patients actively participate in their health. She enjoys educating patients on their health, explaining the reasons behind screenings, labs, and treatments, and engaging in open conversations about their preferences and concerns. She believes that care is most effective when it is collaborative, patient-informed, and flexible. In her free time, Dr. Bighorse enjoys spending time with her son and family, exploring farmer’s markets, trying local food trucks and snow cone stands, traveling, fishing, and discovering nature trails and parks.
