About Me
Dr. Ariel Torres is a dedicated general medicine physician with more than 25 years of experience providing patient-focused care. He earned his medical degree from Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas La Habana, now known as the University of Medical Sciences of Havana (UCMH). Throughout his career, Dr. Torres has been driven by a deep desire to help those in need. He believes in prioritizing each patient’s safety, dignity, and individual needs while ensuring they are actively involved in decisions about their health. Known for his compassionate approach, he takes time to listen carefully, communicate honestly, and respect each patient’s autonomy. His goal is to help patients feel heard, valued, and empowered. Dr. Torres places a strong emphasis on education and collaboration. He explains the “why” behind every recommendation — whether it involves preventive screenings, lifestyle changes, or medication adherence — so patients can make informed choices and maintain their independence and overall well-being. In his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, staying active through exercise and softball, and expressing his creativity by writing verses and dancing salsa. He is also actively involved in his community as a volunteer coach for a local Little League baseball team.

Skin Cancer in Older Adults: Types and Risks
Skin cancer in older adults refers to the abnormal growth of skin cells that often develops after years of cumulative sun exposure, natural aging changes in the skin, and a weakened immune system. It is one of the most common cancers in the United States, and older adults are especially at risk because skin damage builds over a lifetime. While the condition can sound alarming, most skin cancers are highly treatable when detected early.

Benefits of Socialization in Older Adults
Humans are naturally social beings. Meaningful relationships and regular interaction with others help support emotional, mental, and physical health throughout every stage of life. For older adults, staying socially connected becomes even more important for maintaining independence, happiness, and overall well-being.
