About Me
Dr. Joshua Lloyd Washington is a board-certified physician specializing in family medicine and sports medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree from Samford University and went on to receive his medical degree from the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he was selected as chief resident. Inspired by a genuine love for people, Dr. Washington pursued medicine to make a lasting difference in the lives of others. He believes the most rewarding part of practicing medicine is the connection he forms with his patients. By taking the time to understand their stories and earn their trust, he helps guide them toward improved health and a better quality of life. Dr. Washington views care as a true partnership. He focuses on helping patients achieve optimal health while using the fewest medications necessary, emphasizing education, preventive care, and lifestyle changes. He is especially passionate about caring for seniors, prioritizing trust, patience, and clear communication to ensure each patient feels heard, valued, and empowered in their healthcare journey. In his free time, he enjoys staying active through running and weightlifting. He also values time spent in his community, exploring local attractions like Bridge Street, and serving as a minister at New Beginnings Christian Church. He is especially excited to be back in his hometown, where he looks forward to reconnecting with the community and giving back to the place that shaped him.
