About Me
Dr. Michael Kalter is an internal medicine physician with more than 42 years of experience dedicated to caring for patients. He earned both his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of Illinois and completed his residency at Marshfield Clinic/St. Joseph’s Hospital. As the son of a Holocaust survivor and a first-generation American, Dr. Kalter’s passion for medicine was shaped early in life by a deep desire to bring light, healing, and compassion into the world. Dr. Kalter is known for building meaningful, lasting relationships with his patients—some of whom he has been friends with for over 30 years. He believes in speaking openly, honestly, and clearly, meeting patients where they are and working together as a team toward better health. He takes a whole-person approach to care, emphasizing the importance of nutrition, exercise, sleep, and ongoing cognitive engagement to help patients live full, active lives. A lifelong student of history, Dr. Kalter enjoys connecting with patients through shared stories and experiences, enriching the care he provides with perspective and understanding gained over many years of practice. In his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, boxing, fishing, hunting, and antiquing. He also dedicates time to supporting veterans by conducting medical assessments to help them obtain VA disability benefits.
