Silvia Abreu Read, M.D.

Dr. Silvia Abreu Read is a board-certified Internal Medicine primary care physician. She earned her medical degree from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and completed an internship at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.“I knew I wanted to become a doctor since I was a very young child suffering with ear infections,” she said. “I felt relief when I saw my pediatrician…I wanted to be that source of relief and hope for others when I grew up.”Dr. Read is an empathic doctor who believes in listening to her patients. She’s flexible, caring, supportive, and approachable. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a diabetologist specializing in the research and treatment of all types of diabetes, an interest that came about after a patient visit during her last year of residency.“A patient came to the clinic with a glucose log and asked me for advice on adjusting insulin,” she said. “I was not able to help her then; I realized I needed more training in managing this very common disease.”She loves connecting with her patients and looks forward to joining you on your journey to Better Health.In her free time, Dr. Read enjoys taking walks with her dog and spending time with her children.
