About Me
Laura Walls is a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in nursing and advanced clinical care. She began her nursing career in 1993 and completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Loyola University New Orleans. Laura pursued her graduate degree to gain greater independence in clinical decision-making and to further her ability to make a tangible difference in her patients’ lives. As a provider, Laura values the meaningful connections she builds with her patients and considers it an honor to be trusted with their health. A proud Polk County resident, Laura appreciates the diversity of larger communities like Winter Haven and Lakeland while also cherishing the quiet, small-town charm of Bartow and Alturas. In her free time, she is a foodie who loves to cook and discover new restaurants. She also enjoys spending her free time with her husband on the water, fishing, or simply relaxing outdoors.

Skin Cancer in Older Adults: Types and Risks
Skin cancer in older adults refers to the abnormal growth of skin cells that often develops after years of cumulative sun exposure, natural aging changes in the skin, and a weakened immune system. It is one of the most common cancers in the United States, and older adults are especially at risk because skin damage builds over a lifetime. While the condition can sound alarming, most skin cancers are highly treatable when detected early.

Benefits of Socialization in Older Adults
Humans are naturally social beings. Meaningful relationships and regular interaction with others help support emotional, mental, and physical health throughout every stage of life. For older adults, staying socially connected becomes even more important for maintaining independence, happiness, and overall well-being.
