Meet Allyssa Koerber, PA-C

VIPcare Port Orange is growing! We’re excited to introduce you to one of our newest providers, physician assistant Allyssa Koerber, PA-C. Allyssa comes to us from Southern Illinois, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to our Port Orange primary care clinic.

Allyssa is a certified medical physician assistant with a passion for enhancing the lives of others through comprehensive healthcare.

Who is Allyssa Koerber, PA-C?

Allyssa grew up in Waterloo, IL, the oldest of six girls. “There was always a lot of drama in my house growing up,” she said. While in high school, Allyssa was very interested in art. So much so, that she toured the Art Institute of Chicago. However, her love of science prevailed. She attended Lindenwood University and Southeast Missouri State University, earning her undergraduate degree in biology.

During her time at Southeast Missouri State University, Allyssa was introduced to the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Haiti coordinated by her local church. The trip consisted of a primary care MD, OBGYN MD, PA, pharmacist, pre-med students, and other general volunteers. In Haiti, they set up a free clinic at a local school and saw hundreds of patients for three days. They examined, diagnosed, and treated the patients at no charge. It was this experience that opened Allyssa’s eyes to a career as a physician assistant.

“I met Nadine, the physician assistant on the trip, and she told me everything about the career,” she said. “I also saw how much of a difference she was able to make as a PA on the medical mission trip and in her own community, which inspired me to be where I am today.”

The Desire to Give Back

Allyssa hopes to one day coordinate her own group to travel to third-world countries and provide free medical care and give back where she can.

“The experience was eye-opening and very humbling,” she said. “It made me realize how privileged of a life I grew up with just simply always having a bed to sleep in and a meal on the table – never having to worry because my parents always were able to provide for me.”

Allyssa is excited to have joined the VIPcare family and said it’s an absolute perfect fit for her. And not just because it brought her to sunny Florida where she can go to the beach and collect tropical plants – two of her favorite things.

“I have not ever seen a company as patient-oriented as VIPcare,” she said. “I got into medicine because of the patients, and I want to be able to really get to know my patients and take the time to hear their every worry or complaint, and VIPcare allows me to do that.”
