VIPcare has some exciting news. We’ve added to our family of providers at our VIPcare Ocala 60th clinic. Dr. Alexzavier Colon has joined Dr. Veronica Machado, and together they will be providing quality care to the Medicare Advantage population in Ocala.
Dr. Colon is a primary care physician specializing in family medicine. He brings compassion and a shared mission to always go above and beyond for his patients to the VIPcare family.
Who is Dr. Alexzavier Colon?
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Colon grew up always knowing he wanted to be a doctor. As a child, he tended to his injured family members when in need and even dressed the part on many Halloweens when he would don his doctor’s costume.
Dr. Colon began his medical education at Pontifical Catholic University, where he received a cardiovascular technician degree. He then completed his medical degree at the Universidad Catolica Nordestana (UCNE) in the Dominican Republic, followed by an internship at Menonita Hospital in Guayama back in Puerto Rico.
“I like everything about medicine,” he said. “But the one area that I like the most is being a PCP because you see the satisfaction of the patients when they leave the office.”
Dr. Colon became a doctor because he wanted to be able to help others, and he has worked tirelessly to do just that in his personal as well as his professional life. He has been a volunteer at a Veterans Affairs hospital, in addition to working for hospice, where he delivered care to the ones who needed it the most.
It was this compassion and desire to always want to help others that drew Dr. Colon to VIPcare.
“In the search of a better lifestyle for my family and me,” he said, “my wife and I visited a lot of potential job sites in different areas of Florida, and when we found VIPcare, instantly we knew that this was the one for us.”
