Dr. James Phoenix is a dedicated primary care physician specializing in Internal Medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Southern Methodist University, followed by his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Phoenix decided to practice medicine because he wanted to work in a field where his work would directly influence people and he could see the results of those efforts. He enjoys the contact he has with his patients and being able to help them identify their problems promptly and see them through the process of resolution or treatment.
“Primary care is unique in the medical field in that we cover the entire breadth of the medical problems a patient might have and are in the position to significantly improve their quality of life,” he said.
Dr. Phoenix has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient care, with clinical interests including preventative care and chronic disease management. He is a former member of the St. John Physician Executive Council, where he was involved in making governance decisions on evidence-based process improvement, Medicare and insurance compliance, and practice maximization.
In his free time, he enjoys cycling, reading books of all types, and lake activities.
