Who is Dr. Sylvia Boloczko?
Dr. Boloczko, originally from Poland, moved to the states and spent the majority of her life in Michigan before moving to Florida to be closer to family.
Growing up, Dr. Boloczko loved science, particularly biology. She always knew she wanted to pursue the field. However, after beginning her studies in research, she soon realized she had a passion for patient care. She determined she wanted to work with people and not in a lab, thus leading her in the direction of medical school.
She attended the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine for medical school and completed her residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Center.
“I went into family medicine as I wanted to do primary care and develop long-term relationships with patients and families,” she said. “I wanted to be able to care for the patient as a whole.”
As Dr. Boloczko continued in her career, she began gearing her focus more toward her older patients. “Slowly, my percentage of patients increased to mostly adults and geriatrics,” she said.
Dr. Boloczko is excited to be the primary care provider at VIPcare Mt. Dora, and he loves that VIPcare’s model allows her to be the physician she wants to be. One that puts quality over quantity.
“I wanted to be able to slow down in the sense of seeing a lot of patients on my schedule and being able to spend more time with each patient,” she said. “I don’t think you can have a quality office visit in 15 minutes, especially with complex patients.”
As a physician, Dr. Boloczko loves to educate her patients and believes this ultimately helps in preventing and managing chronic conditions.
