We have some exciting news to share with you coming out of our VIPcare primary care clinic in Clermont. We’ve added to our team again. Meet our newest health care provider, Dr. Linda Jean.
Dr. Jean comes to VIPcare with over 13 years of experience and passion caring for patients. She is a board-certified primary care physician specializing in preventative and integrative medicine.
Who is Dr. Linda Jean?
Dr. Linda Jean is a Florida native, born and raised in Miami. Her mother recalls that at a young age, Dr. Jean told her she wanted to be a pediatrician. With her mother and aunt being healthcare workers, Dr. Jean was exposed to the medical world early on, leading to her soon-to-be passion.
“Multiple experiences culminated in my decision to pursue being a doctor,” she said. “It began from a childhood exposure in my home to caregiving to visiting and spending time with my aunt and mother at their jobs, and volunteering.”
By watching her mother and aunt over the years, Dr. Jean learned how to serve and care for others. Admirable traits she shares and exemplifies as a member of the U.S. Army. Dr. Jean currently serves as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves as a physician providing preventative health education to her fellow soldiers and managing their acute medical illnesses.
“Serving in the Army as a physician has been one way for me to give back to my community and the nation I was born in,” she said. “It is paramount that we as soldiers maintain our medical/health readiness so that we can always be ready to defend our country or accomplish whatever mission or tasks there are which may include humanitarian work in this country and/or other countries.”
Caring to Listen
As a provider, Dr. Jean values quality over quantity. “I believe time should be taken to listen to the patient, educate, and provide the best management for the patient’s condition,” she said.
Dr. Jean is passionate about educating her patients and taking an integrated approach in preventing and managing a patient’s condition. In addition to traditional care, she often includes culinary and lifestyle medicine in her treatments.
“These fields of medicine are interrelated,” she said. “Culinary medicine aims to help patients access and eat high-quality meals to help prevent and treat disease, which includes giving these patients culinary skills. Lifestyle medicine is the use of evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic intervention to include healthy eating, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and the promotion of developing positive social connections to prevent, manage, and potentially reverse some chronic diseases.”
Dr. Jean is excited to be joining the VIPcare family and believes VIPcare embodies all that she strives to be as a physician.
