Retired from the U.S. Army, Dr. Green is a board-certified physician who brings over 31 years of experience to VIPcare.
Who is Dr. John Green?
Dr. Green is a Florida native born and raised in Miami. Upon graduating high school, he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for his undergraduate studies in Engineering Physics. Then, deciding to pursue a career in medicine, he returned to South Florida, where he earned his doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Nova Southeastern University.
“I like responsibility,” he said. “Once you take responsibility for people, you actually start caring about them. It’s good; it keeps you alive.”
As a member of the armed forces, he headed to Tahoma, WA, where he completed an internship at Madigan Healthcare System at Madigan Army Medical Center. Not exactly sure what area of medicine he wanted to focus on yet, Dr. Green completed several other internships to explore some different medical specialties.
He completed an internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, followed by another at the University of Connecticut, where he explored the field of neurology. He finally decided to specialize in internal medicine and completed an internship at Charleston Area Medical Center in West Virginia before returning to Florida once again to begin practicing.
Dr. Green likes to put the focus on the patient and their needs. “There’s a lot of wasted efforts in medicine today because of the business aspect,” he said. “I focus on my work. I’m not business-oriented at all. I’ve always just been focused on patients’ problems and trying to fix them.”
And you don’t have to worry about seeing Dr. Green in a lab coat if you visit him. “I don’t wear a white coat because I don’t want to scare them,” he said, referring to what’s become known as “white lab coat syndrome.” “Their blood pressure is already up. I want them to be comfortable.”
