It’s been almost a year since you were introduced to Dr. Clary Montalvo, our primary care physician in Dade City. We’re so excited to be celebrating her upcoming first anniversary with us. She has embraced her position here at VIPcare and is impacting her patients’ lives and helping them achieve a better quality of life.
She is an internal medicine physician with over 10 years of experience providing quality care to patients who need it the most.
Who is Dr. Clary Montalvo?
When she was a young girl growing up in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Dr. Montalvo knew she was destined to help others. Her interest in science began in elementary school, which only helped lead her in the direction of medicine. Then, experiencing the compassionate medical care her grandparents received only further pushed her toward medicine.
During her senior year of high school, she got her first real taste of what a career in medicine would be like. Dr. Montalvo was chosen to participate in a summer medical immersion program created by the Fundacion Dr. Garcia Rinaldi. And it was this experience that truly pushed her to become a physician.
“I love that it helps answer a lot of the unknowns in this world,” she said.
She earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara-School of Medicine in Jalisco, Mexico, and completed her residency as Chief Resident at Mayaguez Medical Center in Puerto Rico.
Upon completing her residency, Dr. Montalvo headed to Florida to begin her medical career.
“I love the fact that I can change the quality of life of my patients for the better,” she said.
Growing up, Dr. Montalvo’s mother told her, “if you have good health, you have everything.” This notion has helped mold her into the practicing physician she is today.
“This has always been my goal with every one of my patients,” she said, “keep them as healthy as possible so they can have a good life and enjoy their families.”
It’s this very notion that has made VIPcare the perfect home for Dr. Montalvo. “VIPcare focuses on patients,” she said. “Here, they are not numbers; we like to know them.”
