This is certainly true of our primary care provider Dr. James Goszkowski of our Ocala SR 49 clinic.
Dr. Goszkowski is a board-certified primary care physician specializing in internal medicine. He has over 35 years of experience and brings a wealth of knowledge and medical expertise to VIPcare.
Who is Dr. James Goszkowski?
Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Goszkowski, or Dr. G as he prefers to be called, attended St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana, for his undergraduate studies, only to return to New Jersey for medical school. Dr. G earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark.
Following medical school, Dr. G decided he was ready for a more calming environment and left what he called the “East Coast Rat Race” to complete his residency at St. Vincent Hospital Health Center in Indianapolis, where he remained for most of his adult life.
When asked why he went into medicine, Dr. G answered honestly, saying at the time, it was for status on the east coast. However, there may have also been a little bit of influence from his older sister, who had attended medical school five years prior.
“There was a positive sibling rivalry,” he said. “It was a rivalry, but she helped me along.”
But once Dr. G began practicing, he quickly knew he was meant to care for others.
“I actually like working with people,” he said. “I don’t see patients, I see people in the office… I want to know the person.”
And that’s why you can expect to be asked questions if you visit Dr. G.
“They can expect me to ask a lot of questions,” he said, “and more importantly, to listen to the answers and what they have to say.”
The Path that Led Down South
Over six years ago, Dr. G was working at a small hospital and was ready for a change. So, his wife suggested he consider looking down South in that they planned to retire there eventually.
“Can’t argue with that logic,” he said.
While he was talking to recruiters and weighing his options, the name Ocala came up. A city he had never heard of, however, one his wife was very familiar with.
“My wife’s eyes lit up because she has horses,” he said. “She knew all about Ocala. So, it was a natural fit. Happy wife, happy life.”
Over the last several years, they have settled into the laidback Florida lifestyle, with his wife enjoying her horses and all things equestrian Ocala has to offer and him outdoors practicing his target shooting.
