We’re always quick to introduce you to our new providers, but we don’t always take the opportunity to let you meet some of the providers that have been with us for some time. For example, meet Dr. Jose Llamas. Dr. Llamas has been part of the VIPcare family for almost seven years. Wow, time really flies!
He practiced at our primary care clinic in Leesburg for most of his time with VIPcare and has recently helped us open our new primary care clinic in Ocoee.
Dr. Llamas is a Family Medicine specialist with over 21 years of experience. He’s a provider we have loved from the start, and we are so happy he’s still with us today. Learn more about this great provider below.
Who is Dr. Jose Llamas?
Dr. Llamas was born and raised in San Diego, CA, where he spent over 40 years before heading cross-country to Florida.
“I moved across the country with my then-pregnant wife to raise a family,” he said. “We put roots down, and that’s how we got here. I thought Florida would be a wonderful place to raise a family.”
Prior to moving, however, Dr. Llamas had already met and interviewed with the VIPcare family. A team he instantly fell in love with.
“I really enjoyed the mission of helping people, preventative medicine, and getting to know my patients,” he said. “When VIPcare hires people, they hire carefully by finding like-minded people that believe in the mission….”
It’s a mission that Dr. Llamas has always believed in and why he went into medicine.
“I originally wanted to be a doctor because I wanted to find a purpose in life, and my purpose, I felt, was helping people,” he said.
He completed his undergraduate studies at San Diego University before heading to medical school at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico. Following medical school, he completed his residency at Metropolitan Hospital in San German, Puerto Rico.
Dr. Llamas strives to make his patients feel comfortable and at home. In addition, he works to create the necessary trust and communication needed to achieve Better Health.
“No day is the same; you don’t know what’s going to walk in the door,” he said. “I enjoy the satisfaction of being able to make a positive impact in people’s lives and getting to know and grow with my patients.”
