We have some exciting news to share with you from VIPcare. We are proud to introduce you to the newest member of our health care team, Dr. Andrea Prince. Dr. Prince will be joining the team at our On Top of the World location in Ocala.
Dr. Prince, a U.S. Navy veteran, brings over 25 years of experience practicing medicine and is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. She is excited to be joining the VIPcare team and says she can’t wait to be a trusted care partner to her new family of patients in the Ocala region as she joins them on their journey to Better Health.
Who is Dr. Andrea Prince?
Dr. Prince says she knew she wanted to be in the medical field since the eighth grade. That it was the perfect way to integrate her interests of human social behavior and cultural relationships with the field of science.
“The human body is such a beautiful miracle and represents a way to really apply and understand scientific principles in concrete ways,” says Dr. Prince.
The relationships of inter-generational caregivers and recipients were key interests to Dr. Prince personally and academically. At a young age, she volunteered as a “candy-striper” and worked with skilled nursing patients as a student and was able to experience firsthand the privilege to improve someone’s quality of life.
She received her undergraduate degree in sociology before attending medical school at the University of Mississippi. She completed her internship in Family Medicine at the naval hospital in Camp Pendleton, California. Upon graduation, Dr. Prince earned the rank of lieutenant and served as a general medical officer, helping to pave the way for fellow female officers and medical professionals. During her time in the military, she received a humanitarian service medal as part of a joint effort rescue team in a Korean airline crash while deployed in Guam.
